The material 1.3505 is the typical and standard rolling bearing steel from which balls, cylindrical rollers and needle rollers are manufactured. It is the “classic” ball material.
Balls made from this material are always hardened, conductive and magnetic. In addition, 100Cr6 has low corrosion resistance and good to very good physical properties.
Balls made of chrome steel, as they are commonly known, can be found in ball bearings, industrial applications, mechanical engineering, the automotive industry, aviation and many other applications.
In theory, the material is used for balls up to a diameter of 30 mm. In practice, however, balls up to a diameter of 250 mm are made from this material for reasons of availability and price.
